Blues

I don’t have any knitting content for you this post – I didn’t want to show you pictures of the same sock, same shawl, but I am hoping to have some finished objects for you in the next week (or so).  I was able to frog the shawl back and fix the mistake, and now I’m clipping along.  But I haven’t had a lot of knitting time this week, so its not going as fast as I wanted.   I have to admit – I don’t think I did a great job with UFO August – although I frogged several projects, I haven’t finished anything, and I am just about out of time.   So I’m really hoping to spend lots of time knitting this week so I can have at least one thing done.

I can’t believe its almost the end of the summer – its been a weird summer here in NJ – cool and rainy for the most part  – with hellish heat and humidty in the last couple of weeks.  Not good weather for golfing, gardens or lazing around in the pool.  But I’m ready for the fall – I’m ready for cool days and nights, and leaves turning, and apples on trees.  And a new sweater on the needles.  Not to mention the fall fiber festivals.  I don’t think I’m going to Rhinebeck this year (too crowded) – but I do think I’ll go to the Garden State festival  and I’m hoping to go to Stitches too.

The biggest reason I’m looking forward to fall is because we are doing some work around the house – starting with our bedroom…

I know – they seemed like such different colors at the store when we picked the colors and got the samples.  We are leaning towards the second from the left – but I’m not sure we really love any of these, so we may start over with new samples.  My sister suggested that we stripe a wall (she’s an amazing painter and did it in one of her rooms and it looks so nice) – so we need to figure out two (or more) colors to do that with.  I’m really looking forward to re-doing the room – its been green since we moved in 6 years ago, and its time for a change.     And we are going through the house, getting rid of things we don’t use and decluttering.  Feels so good to do that!

We had a busy weekend, but we took a few minutes this afternoon to make some tartlets – I am really looking forward to dessert…

I’m thinking about going to Stitches too this year. I went when it was in Atlantic City, took one of those buses from the Port Authority where you get $10 in quarters. I had never been to Atlantic city, so I ran into the first casino I saw and cashed in those quarters and played the slot machine. I won about $300 on the first quarter, cashed it all in, and spent it all on yarn. I had to take it home in a black Hefty garbage bag.

I like the second from the left too (though I am partial to the green… that’s the exact colour I want to do my bedroom)
You’re making me hungry with those tartlets… and I don’t even like blueberries!

  4. Dessert looks really good; I hope it tasted as good as it looked!

Jeanne- We are living in a parallel universe- I am also looking at painting my bedroom, it hasn’t been done in a while.

Let’s face it, summer has been a bit of a wash-out but it’s all good. Lots of cool weather knitting to look forward to.

  6. We’ve had a similarly weird summer in Wisconsin. Global warming?

    The tartlets look divine!

Geez, those blueberries and peaches look yummy! I like the second one from the left, too, for the record. If you do some stripes, I’d love to see them. I’ve been thinking about trying that in one of our bathrooms.

We just painted our bedroom blue and love it. It was “aloof” from a walmart paint swatch and it is perfect. Our creamish furniture made the whole room look like a beach (sand and ocean). LOVE IT. I could live in there day and night!!

I hope you find the perfect shade!

I’m going to the Garden State show. I can handle the small crowds. Rhinebeck scares me. Too many people!

    There’s something invigorating about decluttering.

We painted recently and it’s funny how you can’t tell what it will really look like until the whole room is done. It looked too dark until we finished and then it all came together. Do you think it makes a difference that the wall isn’t white? We have a new boy over here – I”ll send you pics later!!!

Oh, boy that tart looks delicious!! I’ve been baking pies too…in the last two weeks I’ve made a blueberry, (granny smith) apple and nectarine. I can’t wait to get the new crop of apples 🙂 Good luck with your room painting….it always feel good to make some changes!

    happy knitting 🙂

I don’t know what it is about painting but I just love it. It really freshens up a room! You have to show us the after pics!

I was *yearning* to start a wool sweater this week, so I’m cranking up the a/c and pretending that it’s fall. 😉

ooh, the tartlets look yummy! good luck with striping one of the walls in your bedroom. can’t wait to see it!

A new sweater for fall on the needles is to me what back to school shopping used to be when I was a kid. I think its an absolute necessity. I started Elizabeth from TUdor Roses last night. Maybe I’m just making excuses for my horrible case of Startitis.

    That desert looks super yummy.

You know, Jeanne, an interesting stripe technique which is very subtle is using the same color paint, but having it mixed in two different finishes…like a flat and a satin…and alternating the two finishes.
