Hard to resist

One of my goals for this year was to knit more out of my stash, and to try to have, at the end of a year, a net decrease in my yarn. You know, knit stash more than I buy new.

So far, this isn’t going well – I’m not knitting as much as I usually do, and I can’t resist buying pretty yarn.   Like this….

There are some dyers that I can’t help checking out daily – and when I saw this yarn I had to get it.  It is laceweight, silk/wool, and 1250 yards!   It is from Enchanted Knoll Farm – and I love her yarn.  I can’t help checking out her Etsy store all the time to see what she’s come up with – her colorways are so beautiful and unusual.  I think its going to be beautiful in a shawl (maybe beaded?!).

Since I was ordering, I thought a little sock yarn wouldn’t be bad….

I wish you could see this in person – it is really amazing.  The colors are really rich, and it is just beautiful (here is a really good picture of the colorway).  As soon as Larry saw it, he claimed it for his socks….but we’ll see.  I really like it too!

So that’s it – I haven’t ordered yarn in a while, so it was nice to come home to a package.  Her shipping is so fast, so I didn’t have to wait too long to get it.

I haven’t started the beaded shawl yet – it was a really busy week, and by the time things calm down at night, I was way too tired to start someting complicated.  So I’ve been knitting more dishclothes.  I know – so boring – but so easy to do.  I won’t take pictures of them, but I’m stuck on this one.  I like the it a lot – very easy and makes a great cloth!

So today is Friday…and I took the day off.  And I took Monday off, so I have a nice long weekend.  Andrew is home for the weekend, and we are seeing family tomorrow.  I’m really looking forward to spending time with the kids and Larry, and baking and cooking (and eating!) some good food for the holiday.   And of course, I’m looking forward to starting the Aeolian shawl – which I’ll do this afternoon.   This morning we are golfing with the boys, trying to get it in before the rain comes.

Have a great weekend!

I was looking at this post this morning getting real up close to the computer screen, and I think oohhing and ahhing out loud, when my boss walked into my office and suprised me. She said: is this the equivalent of me catching you looking at porn at work?

  10. The lace weight is beautiful and beads are going to make it even better. It’s hard to stick with resolutions, almost as if the moment you commit everything goes downhill. I’m sure once you get back into knitting more it’ll be easy.

Jeanne- You know that I am a huge fan of EK- and those skeins are incredible.

I wouldn’t be able to resist either.

Beautiful colorway! You must be a very patient knitter to do so much lace and sock knitting. I have to intersperse it with heavier projects. Hope you had a great holiday.
