OK, I have to admit it…but I think these are socks only the knitter that created them can love…
What do you think? Aren’t they sort of …well…not the most attractive pair of socks? I think its the yarn – I’m not a big fan of pooling kind of stripey yarn. But I do like the pattern, do like the fit, and Larry likes them so I guess they aren’t all bad. How about some details?
Yarn: Koigu KPPPM, Colorway #P46022
Pattern: My own – just a basic 4×2 rib with a cable thrown in every five rows
Started: December 23, 2008
Finished: January 6, 2009
I realized that normally my socks are a little loose – and I sort of hate that, so for these I really cut down the stitches on the foot. And I shortened the length by a 1/2″ – and they are perfect. They fit Larry snugly – not loose but not too tight.
He likes them, and so I guess that’s good – in fact he’s wearing them tonight. I do like Koigu, but I think I’ll stick with their semi-solids in the future. But I am happy to use stash yarn, so all in all, I’m pretty happy with them (even if they are sort of…well…)
This week went by so fast – I think it helped to work from home in the middle of the week. It also helped that I got a really nice surprise in the mail…
A few weeks ago, I won a contest on Susan’s blog, and this week I got an amazing package! Not only did she send the cutest sheep, beautiful notecards, and Washington state candy, more Washington state fruit candy, coffee – she sent gorgeous yarn….Lorna’s Laces in Cherries Jubilee (a limited edition yarn from September 2007). Gorgeous yarn – I can’t wait to use it. I was amazed at the package – thanks, Susan!
We are expecting snow tomorrow – which is unfortunate because its Saturday, and I was looking forward to going to knitting group. But I suppose it will be nice to have some enforced relaxing time to knit, watch movies and spend time with the family.
OK, off to have dinner…..have a great weekend!
